About Us

At The Murphy Project, we are dedicated to supporting the lives of young people from all backgrounds—particularly those whose parents are incarcerated. Our organization is committed to supporting youth aged 10 to 25. We recognize that while many face significant challenges, we believe that with the right resources, mentorship, and opportunities, they can become the exception to the rule.

Our mission is to empower these young individuals by providing scholarships and mentorship programs designed to foster personal and academic growth. We believe that by investing in our youth, we can help them realize their full potential and break the cycle of incarceration that often affects their families. We are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve, helping them to build brighter futures and create lasting change in their communities.

Daneyah Nixon

President and Founder

My name is Daneyah Nixon, and my father was incarcerated when I was a baby. By God’s grace, I was blessed to have a strong mother who raised me to be independent, successful and hardworking but many children don’t the same support system. Because of my experience, I’ve started an organization to mentor children and young adults who are affected by their parent’s circumstances. My experience as an Event Producer working across Entertainment, Sports, and Media brands has taught me the value of partnership, collaboration, and community.

Through this organization, we will encourage children to connect with individuals who have overcome various obstacles.  In building this organization, I’d like the opportunity to focus on uplifting children and showing them different versions of a similar story.
